I was not sure about the larger ships, as against the smaller ones (2200-2600 passengers) I had been on before the Joy, but after the first day or so of no-one knew where they were going to then settling down, moving around came a lot easier. I was happy with my balcony cabin, it was identical to those on the NCL Joy, on which I had sailed in April so I knew my way around it! As a solo cruiser their was plenty of space, a nice bathroom and very clean. Civitaveccia is NOT really a port to load on almost 4000 passengers! By the time I got on, the cabins were ready. …Īfter a chaotic 1-3/4 hr snake-line in the hot sun - no water, no shade - I finally made it onto the Breakaway. Also, our beds were terribly uncomfortable which our room steward put on an egg crate which really didn't help much at all, but when you are exhausted from all the excursions, it didn't matter as much. Also, they are only doing each stateroom one time per day which did not bother us, but might bother some. With our package, we had two specialty dinings included and we spent both at the brazilian steakhouse which was the best food we had onboard. The desserts everywhere were horrible and gelatinous. Dinner at the buffet or in the free dining rooms was just ok. The breakfast buffet never changed at all. It was disappointing that there wasn't a show every night to go see. I know that NCL is ending their broadway contracts in Jan 2024, so that will be a shame. Our favorite thing onboard was SIX the musical and we saw it twice. In the theater, they had two shows, Burn the Floor which was a dance show where we appreciated the talent of the dances, but wish there was a story. The entertainment was ok as far as musical acts on the pool deck or in the atrium. The pools were tiny and were crowded with adults dipping their feet in, so my teens didn't go swimming. We liked the itinerary of 10 days to Italy, Greece and Malta. We had only cruised RCCL before and wanted to try something different.
